Four thousand miles a day.
Two thousand stars we've passed
As we're travelling through space
We fear this could be the last
Time Earth has heard from us.
Perhaps they don't know we're lost.
No message on the radio.
Oxygen is running low.
Only a few days supply left.
We'll make the most of what is left.
Enjoy ourselves in time to spare,
And think of home. Maybe say a prayer
That one day again we'll see
Our closest friends and family.
Tell our kids what we've been through
So they don't make this mistake too.
Guess this is the first and this is the last time
I've been in space so don't bring me down
Saying this is where it's at.
It's no good if your dead.
When this ordeal is done
W'er we have lost or we have won
We'll go down in history
As the ones who did it for their country.
I only did it for the praise.
A meddle on my chest and a home in state.
Cooks and maids to scrub the floor
If I could have only seen this before.
We're losing energy.
Wet like fishes in the sea
From sweat. The mental pain
Is driving me insane.
Don't think I'll last too long.
One last request before I'm gone
I don't want no sympathy
For the fool that I have been.
Guess this is the first and this is the last time
I've been in space so don't bring me down
Saying this is where it's at.
It's no good if your dead.
We're losing speed.
The dials have gone out of control.
We're bound to stop soon.
Float about for ever more
If we don't get help
From planet Earth or anywhere.
I'll cut this message now,
Let the others have a blow.
At the service where they say "goodbye"
Don't want no-one to cry.
Just lay some wreaths in memory
Of all the crews, but don't forget me.
The fool who wasn't satisfied.
I had to come up here to die.
Be one up on all the rest.
Now I know that they knew best.
Guess this is the first and this is the last time
I've been in space so don't bring me down
Saying this is where it's at.
It's no good if your dead.
