In A While

Well the plane touched down at a quarter to three.
He was standing on the tarmac, he was waiting to see
A special person with a very special smile.
The band struck up an' she appeared on the scene.
They embraced and he asked "where you been"?
She said "you knew I'd be here in a while".

Well they split real fast as they got into the car,
An' they talked so much no that no-one else was there
That their tongues they very nearly caught on fire.
But it weren't so much the words that they said
Than the words that were going 'round inside their heads.
They knew they could make it in a while.

Well life ain't worth living an' that's for sure
Unless you got something you'd die for.
Even peaceful things sometimes they seem so wild.
So cherish the good and heal the bad.
Laugh with the happy and humour the sad
An' you'll find that it'll all be o.k. in a while.

When she got him home she took him right upstairs.
There's many dark secrets been revealed up there,
But I'm sure all in the past compared to this seems mild.
Then she bared her soul for him to see
'N' said "it's yours, now what you got for me"?
He said "let's talk about it for a while".

Well they both had what the other needed so bad.
Others tried but never got that far
With the lady with the enigmatic smile.
But then she turned and gestured to the door
An' he asked "when can we do this some more"?
She answered without thinking "in a while".

Well life ain't worth living an' that's for sure
Unless you got something you'd die for.
Even peaceful things sometimes they seem so wild.
So cherish the good and heal the bad.
Laugh with the happy and humour the sad
An' you'll find that it'll all be o.k. in a while.
